Citizens for Douglas County Schools

For our Schools. For our Future.
Vote YES on 3A and 3B

Douglas County Schools have a long tradition of making the most of taxpayer dollars and receiving the lowest per pupil funding in the metro area while consistently being rated among the top performing districts in the state. Having weathered the same economic challenges faced by many families and businesses, Douglas County Schools approached the cuts that they were required to make as an opportunity to become even more efficient.

This November, Douglas County Schools will be asking voters to approve a bond and mill levy override to protect classroom funding, reinvest in our current schools, and implement a groundbreaking pay for performance program for teachers and district staff. The new pay for performance program would end the practice of automatic, seniority-based pay hikes and replace it with a rigorous new program that rewards teachers for the outcome that matters most: student results.

The mill levy override will be split between pay for performance and classroom funding while the bond will allow the district to reinvest in our existing schools to keep class size down and ensure the continued health and safety of our children. The bond will also fund the technological infrastructure needed to develop the pay for performance system, as well as providing other capital assets needed to keep up with the future growth and needs of our district.
